“Duncan”

For those of you who attended the Dinner and Silent Auction and entered the Duncan DNA contest, the results are in!  They are very interesting results and out of the several entries in the contest there was no one who guessed this combination!  One of Duncan’s parents was a cross between an American Foxhound and an Argentine Dogo.  His grandparents were a purebred American Foxhound and a purebred Argentine Dogo.  The other parent was not as clear.  The DNA test showed the 5 next best breed matches of that parent as Curly-Coated Retriever, Basenji, Otterhound, Irish Setter and Dogue De Bordeaux!  One or more of these breeds could have contributed to the genetic makeup of the ancesters of Duncan.  Truly a “mixed breed” dog!  No one guessed the correct mixture so a drawing was held among the entries, and the winner of the Prairie’s Edge Humane Society canvas tote bag is Melanie Dennis of Northfield!  Thank you to everyone who entered and if you would like to purchase a DNA kit to test your dog, please contact the PEHS shelter and we can order one for you!  We would also like to report that Duncan was adopted yesterday and now living in his forever home!
