We are in need of items for our garage sale!  Donations of items for the garage sale will be accepted at the garage sale site in Northfield during the following dates and times:

Tuesday, May 7^th  3-6 pm

Friday, May 10^th  3-6 pm

Saturday, May 11^th  10-2 pm

Monday, May 13^th  5-7 pm

Wednesday, May 15^th   2-5 pm

Please deliver items to the Northfield location. (Smaller items may be delivered to the shelter building in Faribault if you are unable to deliver them to the Northfield location, however we would prefer all items be delivered to Northfield if at all possible.  Larger items will need to be delivered to the Northfield location)

Items NOT ACCEPTED: Electrical items such as computers, copiers, dvd and vcr players, tvs, microwaves, toaster ovens. blinds and curtains, bedding or mattressses.  No adult clothes or shoes.

ONLY SMALL CLEAN, USABLE kitchen items such as toasters, blenders, coffee makers will be accepted.  Children or infant clothes only please.

Clean items in good repair ONLY.

If you are interested in volunteering to help organize items during the week of the garage sale or are available to help at the garage sale or with clean up after the garage sale, please email director@prairiesedgehs.org.

The students use the shelter as a project each year, checking our website every morning to moniter the adoptable animals. The students do the work of organizing sale items, waiting on customers and keeping track of sales. This is a great project and we are so excited to be a part of it.

The students will also be visiting the shelter later in May for a tour and to deliver supply items used at the shelter which they have purchased.

We are very grateful to the teachers, students and staff from Bridgewater Elementary School. This is a great opportunity for community members and parents to help these wonderful students raise money for a cause they have chose to support. Bridgewater School should be proud of its students and of their teachers for educating these young people in giving back to their community.

Please mark your calendars and support the 3rd Graders of Bridgewater Elementary School in their class project to help Prairie’s Edge Humane Society!

The walk is one of the largest fundraising events of the year for Prairie’s Edge Humane Society.  Proceeds will be used to help the homeless animals and fund our programs.  We are looking forward to seeing you and your pet!  The walk will take place rain or shine so dress for the weather.  All walkers should register at the pavilion at Shager Park.  Choose a distance to walk.  One-half, one, two or three mile options will be available.  After completing the walk, the trail will bring participants back to the pavilion for snacks, pet goodies and prizes.  You should begin your walk between 9:30 -10:00 AM, the walk will end at noon so start early enough to finish by that time.  All walkers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   All pets must be up to date on their vaccinations.

Ask your teachers, friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbors to sponsor yourself and collect a donation of any amount they choose.

Checks should be made payable to Prairie’s Edge Humane Society.  All donations are tax deductible as permitted by law.

Collect your donations before coming to the walk.  Complete your donation record sheet and turn it in along with your collected donations at the start of the walk.

Money must be turned in upon check in the day of the walk in order to quality for prizes.

Donations received on line will be added to your total donations turned in on the day of the walk.  Please bring a printout of on line donations with you.

If you cannot participate the day of the walk, alternatives are available!  Collect donations for the walk and do your walking at your convenience.  You may do this at one of the local health centers, or walk the trail early.  Your money must be turned in at the PEHS shelter prior to the walk date of May 4th however, to be eligible for any prizes if you cannot attend the event on that day.

Our special needs animals, those who came to the shelter sick, injured or abused, and were cared for at the PEHS shelter were highlighted in a special video presentation as well as the PEHS alumni produced by Julie Fox of Fox Video Productions! Thank you to Julie for the wonderful job done on the video, it was a very emotional and uplifting video.  If you would like to purchase a copy of the video for $10 please contact admin@prairiesedgehs.org.  Our alumni photos were also featured on the placemats used for the dinner as well.  We have produced these for the past three years from submitted photos of alumni and they are a big hit each year.  Thank you to staff member Merilyn for producing these once again this year.

Thank you to all of the businesses and individuals who value the work done at PEHS and donated over 175 items to the silent auction and to our wonderful supporters who kept the bidding going!  Our shelter director, Kathy Jasnoch, welcomed the crowd with some inspirational messeges and gave an update on the shelter.  Unfortunately our speaker, Kendall Iverson a PEHS volunteer, adopter and recent heart transplant recipient, was hospitalized and unable to attend the event in person, but sent a personal messege, read by shelter business operations manager, Sandy Vesledahl, and allowed us to share his story with everyone even though he was unable to attend.  For those of you who have inquired about Kendall since that evening, he has been released from the hospital and is now recuperating at his home in Dickinson, ND with his PEHS adopted dog Cooper by his side!   All of us from Prairie’s Edge wish Kendall the best in the future with his recovery and thank him for his continued support of PEHS.

Thank you to the vendors who sold items in our “Buy it Now” section and donated proceeds to PEHS.  These are specialty items which can be purchased immediately instead of on the auction and it is always a hit!

We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support shown to PEHS by everyone on Saturday evening.  Thank you to the following businesses and individuals who sponsored tables at the event, Cannon Valley Veterinary Clinic, Premier Bank Northfield, Invisible Fence, Menasha Corporation, the Schwen family, the Calcutt family, the Kuchinka family, the Schumann family, the Vesledahl family, the Sunderlin family, the Moldenhauer family and the Stark family.

Thank you also to the Northfield Eagle’s Club for their support of this event as well as the many other events we hold at their facility.  They are always very accomodating in their help for our events and their donations for our events.  A special thank you to Ramona of the Eagle’s club for preparing our meal for the evening!  We would also like to give a very special thank you to the numerous wonderful PEHS volunteers, who helped with the evenings events, including all of our staff members who volunteered their time to help at the event, and also to the “committee” who organized the event.  We are so grateful to all of you!

This year’s dinner and auction was such a huge success and we are so thankful to everyone who came out to support the animals cared for at PEHS.  We have already begun to plan for next year’s Dinner and “Auction for the Animals”!
